Guard's Band Festival

The Guards Band Festival is a diverse two-day military music event in the historical sea fortress of Suomenlinna.

The halls of Suomenlinna will be moving to the rhythm of military music when the Guards Band and their friends once again go ashore on the island. The programme of this third festival consists of Argentine tango, grand formation march and the children's play General Bass.

On public demand, the big wood-heated sauna of the Naval Academy will be hot again. Tapio Liinoja and H Street Brass Duo will help the users to sweat even more. Guests at the festival are the Navy Band with Jari Koivisto as soloist and the Conscript Band of the Finnish Defence Forces. The Conscript Band excels in formation march and includes a group of rifle artists. Pete Parkkonen, who is doing his conscript service in the Guards Band, will perform as soloist at a picnic concert and at the last event of the festival, an incredible people’s night.
