Enlightenment Era Cultural Festival 12–19 June 2011 in Suomenlinna 

A journey with Count Curt von Stedingk: Washington, Paris, Savolax.

Let’s accompany Count Curt von Stedingk, a fellow countryman of the Finnish people, when in the 18th century he fights alongside Frenchmen for American independence and for the first democratic state in the world to carry out the ideals of the enlightenment philosophers, sails to Marie Antoinette’s dinner tables to recover, takes part in discussions in Parisian salons and leads the Savolax brigade.

The festival offers music, literature, science and dance from the America of George Washington’s era.

The world-famous Baroque Ensemble REBEL and dancers Thomas Baird and Paige Whitley-Bauguess are coming from New York to perform at the festival.
